Kinetic Maceration

Postby bushido » Wed May 16, 2007 3:53 pm

Here is a link to an herbal company which tumbles their maceration 24hrs a day. They claim it to be 25% better than stirring daily. Easily adapted to our use, i'm sure

I can see this working better than the occasional stir. I am definetly going to set up something to do this. Something to hold a s/s container, small electric motor...

a stirplate might work as well and be a bit simpler.
just make sure you have a ethanol rated stirbar

I don't think it would make that much of a difference over a daily stir or two. Macerated herbs are going to (one hopes) be heated slowly in your pot for a good period of time and with some rectification oils can be extracted efficiently.
