Google this: Distillation of Alcohol and Denaturing - FB Wright.pdf it may help but I am a Newbie too.

The Compleat Distiller by Mike Nixon as a very good starter, from theoretical to practical. :)

The Compleat Distiller can be found at http://www.amphora-society.com/Books_c_1.html were you will also find a couple of other great books.
