American denim overall

Postby Y1969 » Wed Nov 15, 2017 2:07 pm

Colleagues! I really want to buy a real American denim overall. I do not know how correctly he is called in English.
The overall, in which the characters of the Discovery channel series "Moonshiners" are dressed.
Blue. With pockets. I'll wear it without a T-shirt.
You can give a link to the online store, where they trade original overalls? In Russia, they sell Chinese counterfeits.
---
Tell me, these overalls - not a joke? American villagers really all go to these?

Not a joke. (Look, you don't need a belt!) Like any other types of clothing people wear, some do and some don't. I don't wear them personally. I'm 6' 4" and kinda slim(well, maybe I WAS kinda slim). Look like a bean pole in them. That said, I'd wear those waaaaaay before skinny jeans the peckerheads are wearing. :roflmao:

Sir, please give the name of the most common brand, applicable for everyday wearing in a garage. Where they are sold in the US? I want to see the models.

Colleague, thank you! I now understand how correctly these garments are called.
Which overalls, in your opinion, last longer, more robust. Can you name the brand? In Russia, sold Chinese overalls, suitable only for a costume party. They are sewn from a fabric that looks like a bedclothes.
I wanted a denim jacket. It is called a "trucker's jacket". I had this in the 80's, I went to a university in such a jacket.

I can't believe I'm discussing clothing with a guy from Russia, but try Carhartt. Tough stuff.

Yep, go to any construction site in the US and you will see Carhart or Dickies. Levi Strauss invented jeans and my kids grew up in Oshkosh.

I used to work in a steell wholesaler stacking and cutting steel.

I wore cotton bib and brace with no shirt in the summer and a t shirt in the winter every day.

They were practical and hard wearing.

Colleagues, thank you! I started to explore ebay and other stores. When I choose - I will ask for an opinion on a specific choice.
It turns out that some pants are sold only in the US and can not be sent to other countries. I regard this as a violation of free trade. I'll write to Congress (our and yours) so that I can be allowed to buy such pants.

I mailed some Levi's to a pen pal in Germany back in 1993 or so. Whenever Glasnost was a thing. His name is Gerald ( hard G). He probably drowned in the pussy because of that. Man, I haven't thought of that in years.

Not related but whatever.

Gentlemen! You taught me how to buy real American pants. Now it remains to teach me to understand spoken English. I do not understand anything. Google also does not understand anything. Make me a favor. I can read technical documents. Somehow I can read news sites. But I'm disheartened reading the forums. I feel that you write something witty and cheerful. But what exactly I can not understand. I'm an engineer, I'm not a philologist

He probably drowned in the pussy because of that... Welcome to American dry humor
Он, вероятно, утонул в киске из-за этого
Pussy= Vagina which is вагина in Russian.
Dry humor is hard to really translate in most cases.
сухой юмор, иногда также называемый невозмутимым, - это форма комедийной доставки, в которой что-то юмористическое произносит или делает человек, не проявляя изменения эмоций или выражения лица.

what is a vagina - I know about it. I can also look at the anatomical atlas, read Wikipedia, and see in real life.
I need to find a similar aphorism in Russian ....
Humor conveys emotions. Emotions do not depend on language. There must be an exact translation.

If I wore overalls I would wear these.

I have the black lined arctic bib overalls with the matching jacket that is black line arctic lined for working out when it is extremely cold.
I would not tell the wife you are talking about pussy, it will not go well if she finds the translation before you do. :roflmao:
