Weather just got perfect for riding Kaw MeanStreak to work. Have had one bike or another for 30 years. Wife gets pissed if I ride to work and she can't go.

I got the wife a scooter for Valentines Day. I've been trying to decide if I could make it to work and back on it. ~80 MPG, but only ~50 MPH.

It warms up in the afternoon but I woke up to 28 degrees outside! Used to race dirt track and miss my riding days.

the scooter wouldnt cut it,,, 50 mph is just a tease

i got a 250 yz 2 stroke here,, every possible engine mod has been done and the thing scares me,,, @ 70 mph in 4th gear up the drive way just a tad too much gas n the front wheel just pops rt up,, just too much power for a dirt bike..

The wife and son have been throwing fits for me to het the bikes out. So they can ride. They are in storage. But I'm more worried about getting the new house done so I can get moved in. Then we can go ride. I told them where the keys were. And they could go get theirs themselves. But they didn't like that idea. They day after that it snowed. Don't have anywhere to store them out of the weather here where we are. So I would rather just wait. But I do have the itch bad. :x

My '59 Duo Glide never gets mothballed. She just has to sit out the rainy weather sometimes.

The wifes and mine set out under the porch last winter and all summer. They both are rusting her seat has faded and looks like crap. I really hated it. But I had no choice. But we bought a 20 foot enclosed trailer last summer for a toy hauler. And it makes a nice winter storage unit. To bad I have to park it in a storage lot away from the house. We get moved into the new house and they will be back inside again. And the 4 wheelers can stay in the trailer.

Took my rocker C for a cruise last week. I rode through a local track here ( road only goes for a couple miles) at 7:40am. News said a bloke was killed on his hog by a hit and run driver on that very road at 8 am same day :o

I was cursing that i'd hit two parrots, one on the mudguard/tire, and one on the top of the helmet after a judcious duck of the head.

Had a helmet exemption for years until they banned them.

What's a helmet exemption?
I only wear a helmet when I'm out riding with friends on sport bikes. To straighten out the curvey roads. Or when I have to go across the state line. I try not to do that one.

We used to be able to get a medical exemption from the helmet laws here. they shut it down 10 years ago or more, but it was good for all the years before that.

now, even though i hae medical reasons why i can't wear a helmet for long, they say 'buy a car then'.

A lot of people don't understand what riding a bike is about, unfortunately it includes most of those in govt.

Someone told me the other day that kids have to be eleven now just to sit on a bike as a passenger. My boy was carried on a bike from prebirth throught to a papoose, and then his own footpegs and helmet at age 4.

It's a shame that children can't grow up now knowing about traffic and wind and bugs and birds and the scenery and the whole vibe that comes from being on a bike in the country or the city. :screwy:

Being part and interacting with the landscape rather than looking through glas and going back to the flip down tv screen or the gameboy. :|

i agree with you punkin,, too many times the governments think they know whats best for us and wanta run our lives.... whatever happened to freedom? i hate wearing a helmet.... if i go down i pray my brains are scattered for 1/4 mile just so i dont survive as a vegetable cause some helmet saved my life...

Same here Punkin ....I well remember blasting down the road on my 38 1200 U.....with a very pregnant Mrs as pillion..........why were we doing this???.........well.it was a nice day and she wanted to go for a ride
Son can now afford better bikes than I can.....he loves both dirt and road.
Looking at it from another point of view....I worry like hell that he will hurt him self oneday and end up suffering the same aches n pains I do after hitting the road a few times.
