ADI conference San Diego

Something interesting going on where you live, maybe we would like to know.

ADI conference San Diego

Postby Bushman » Wed Feb 03, 2016 9:21 pm

I have a 2 bedroom condo sleeps 6 reserved for the week of this years ADI conference in San Diego (2.3 miles from the conference). Payed for my flights and just got the newsletter in the mail for registration to the conference. Looks like you have to pay and join ADI and then pay for the conference separately. When it was in Seattle 2 years ago I was able to attend by just paying for the conference. I do not plan to open a distillery and it seems like an expensive addition to the conference. Any thoughts?

I thought the conference was always ADI members only. I think they're still offering the $250 discounted membership.

Two years ago I talked on the phone directly with Bill Owens and he said I could join ADI with limited access and no membership fee, I am currently receiving their newsletter but am limited on the forum as I cannot access business plans, etc. This doesn't bother me as I am currently not planning on opening a distillery. Several years ago I was very interested as my son was graduating college in Hospitality but has since landed a great job as manager of a bar & restaurant in a very fancy hotel.

I went to one in Alameda a long time ago and didn't have to join anything. Bush, perhaps you can re-up your limited membership?

Really looking forward to meeting up with members, Kapea, VB, Smaug, hopefully 3d0g and Dad300 and any others that plan on attending.

Building up my arm and shoulder muscles. It's a long paddle from Gilligan's Island to San Diego in my outrigger...

Who's going to refuel it for you?

What do you gain...well there are seminars about everything from Yeast choice to aging...tastings for formulas/aging wood selection/post sweetening/etc...you get to see a lot of cool equipment that even if it is beyond economically justifiable or too big a scale, you could possibly build. You get to meet some of these characters from the forums...

I not only learned but really enjoyed the conference I attended in Seattle. It's also like a vacation plus everything Dad300 said.
When I looked at the vendor list at least the other day neither StillDragon nor iStill had registered as vendors. Hope they at least plan to attend as I would like to have lunch or just BS with them.

I'm pretty sure StillDragon will be there. I read Smaug posting about a still they will have on display there on another forum.

I am in. Tickets and registrations bought.

I'm all registered. Doing the White Labs workshop too. Doubt I'm gonna stay at the Town and Country though. Too many review horror stories.
