Mashing out also helps the efficiency when using a sparge bag by redissolving sugars and reducing viscosity.

So far I have a 100% record of failing to remember to acidify the water that I use to dunk sparge the bag :doh:

CAUTION:
I forgot to mention this but -- if you are using net curtain material, remove the weighted cord from the hem. It contains lead weights!

I was reminded to post this when I made a little bag out of an offcut, for vapour infusing spices to make gin.
