Apple Pie - My Version

I'm sure somebody has already made a similar mix, but I didn't find it. My goal was to get more of an apple pie taste out of the drink, whilst keeping it clear... I think I have found it. This has been a hit at parties, and I normally tote empty quarts home.

You can mix to whatever strength you like. Having to watch my sugar intake, this recipe suits my taste just fine because I don't have to add sugar, although some folks just have to have the sugar. :D

Most often I will mix to about 10% abv. so as not to pollute the partygoers too badly.

For a quart jar (800mL):
115 mL of 70% abv
685 mL of apple juice
1 TBS whole cloves
1 TBS whole allspice
2 cinnamon sticks
1 apple cut in wedges (replaced prior to serving)
(Sugar may be added as desired)

The longer this sits the stronger the taste gets, it takes some monitoring to get the flavor you want. Once you get the flavor you want, remove the spices and put in the new apple wedges.

That sounds nice - if you were aiming for say 20%, obviously you would use half the apple juice - but would you use the same amount of spices, or halve them too ?

I like it a little higher in abv, but that's just my taste.

Sinner's and Wineo's Apple Pie recipes are both on the first page in the Proven Recipes section..

I also like a higher abv. It just tastes so good I lighten it up where a lot of people may be pouring a glass. If it's only a few friends I have gone up to 30%.

I leave the spices the same, just monitor the flavor closer at higher abv.

+1 Squatch. Would have just taken longer to find that fire......................
Overhead the albatross
Hangs motionless upon the air
And deep beneath the rolling waves
In labyrinths of coral caves
An echo of a distant time
Comes willowing across the sand
And everything is green and submarine
