When we go to Ikea I buy a couple of these and give them to my wife, it makes her happy.

If I need a spare sample jar in a hurry I ask her if I can borrow a vase. It makes her happy.

A standard spirit hydrometer fits, they are chunky glass, the base is really big which makes them nice and stable, difficult to knock over and they are a third of the price of the real ones from the HBS.

Not quite as cheap as yours, but getting close.

I now have 6 spare/emergency sample jars around the house and my wife never complained about me spending the money Win Win.
