Made a Craigslist deal last night.

Bought five 15.5 gal sanke kegs for $195. That was a wonderful find for me. He had 2 others that had a 6" tall section of the oval capped pony kegs welded to them. Would have bought those also but they were roughly welded with a regular short arc wire and not stainless. There was rust at the welds on the inside of the keg. Could have repaired them myself with a larger opening, but kinda figured I might not need 9 kegs. Already have 2, now I have 7. I can quit using the glass now with seven 15.5 gal sankes, three 5 gal pony, one 7.5 gal pony kegs, and the one 5 gal pony that will become an inline thumper. I have no intention if filling all of this.

Just thought I'd pass this on and say that I got lucky and that these deals are out there to be had. Now I need to order son tri clamp stuff to weld larger top openings and taps for the bottoms of these. :D

Cheers.

Nice find!!! At one time I had 9 sankes. I'm down to four now which seems to work well for me. Although I dont use any for distilling, I do all of my beer (for drinkig) fermentation in them after I have a potentially horrible mishap with a glass carboy.

Real nice score Pa_bon. At $39 each, you could probably resale some of them and recover most, if not all, of your money. For people in the US looking for kegs, Craigslist is a good resource. I got a 50L (13.2 gallon) keg on Craigslist several months ago for $30. I saw a 15.5 gallon keg a while back for $5, but it was gone by the time I contacted the seller.

That's a lot of empty volume. If you crush them flat they won't take up so much space.

It was just luck. Young guy posted it less than 12 hours before I saw it and he was 10 minutes from work. Picked it up for a friend.
