Hey Dutch,
Thanks for sending me a bottle of this. I have been sipping it this evening and it's great. Is it about a year old? Can't remember when the box came but it was a while ago. regardless, here's how it is:

Color is dark, dark purple. Almost black. Opaque. There's a tiny amount of sediment in the bottle. About what you'd expect after coffee filtering. I shook it in.
It's sweet, thick and almost chewy. The syrup didn its job. Blackberry is up front with a string clove finish. I can't pick out the nutmeg but my palette sucks and I've been drinking heavily.

Some folks might want ot cut back the cloves for a first try. I like it how it is, but I tend to like what's presented to me. After all, Dutch's uncle had a plan and this is it. To alter its to make it something else. All in all I like this. Am setting it aside to enjoy when not drunk.

Glad you like it....I think the date it was made is on the label. I've got some from 1999, the last made by Uncle Art and it tastes exactly the same. I can never change the recipe. We always toast Art's memory with this every year at deer camp, and every batch I make has a small amount added from the last he made.
