Taobao

Has anyone had a good/bad experience with a taobao agent that they would like to share?

I buy a lot of Chinese manufactured electrical/electronic stuff on ebay but it's all much cheaper on taobao. Shipping and handling costs are usually more than the stuff itself.

Chrome autotranslate, or some agents have translated search engines. Sometimes I can find what I want on uxcell and search for the part number. It does feel like a stab on the dark most of the time.

I have been looking at taobaofocus which has a website in reasonable English. The fees quickly add up, but it can be worth it if you are ordering multiples. Agents fees are minimum $6, plus internal shipping from $2.50 per vendor, plus international shipping to USA about $2.50 per 100g donkey post or $4 EMS (USD @ 6 RMB).

I've been looking at a220V 25A 2 pole DIN rail contactor (LYN brand part CT1-25). Equivalent through US reseller $24 plus shipping, Ebay $16, Uxcell via amazon $15, Uxcell website $17 minus $5 discount if you have ordered there before. I have seen it on Taobao for $1.50 (8.80 RMB). They weight about 150g so to get 3 of them would cost $4.50 + $6 agent fee + $2.50 internal shipping + $13 international shipping = $26 or about $9 each shipped. Plus possibly a bit extra if the internal shipping works out more than estimated, and for currency exchange fees.

Check the used prices no need to get new for just a contactor, find a good seller on ebay that has a great feed back and you should be fine. I'll have a look and repost if I find something.

That would do it, but I want DIN rail mount and could get cheaper from Uxcell.

I have got some amazing deals on ebay though. A while back I got an entire box of 10A relays for $0.99.

I have access to electrical wholesale I could check some prices for ya if you want. Does the coil voltage need to be 240V or would you prefer something else. Do you want any particular brand

:8) Sometimes the internet is cheaper than wholesale but doesn't hurt to check. I'm in HVAC and can get double pole 30A contactors for around $6 with 24V-240V coils. The rail mount is not in my wheel house but my buddy is a electrician that buys 100,000 plus a month so his prices are pretty damn good.

Many a nickel makes a knuckle... I have the economics completely sussed out. My brewery controller will break even in about 50,000 pints time.
