Glad you now have the ability to fine tune your output! It just doesn't get better than going from "What if?" to a functioning apparatus! Congratulations!

Conceive/ build is my favorite element of the hobby. Why did Myles, Harry, Larry and Minime pop into my mind? I truely miss the days before the almighty "flute", when there was still the thirst to push the boundaries of artisan distilling.

I'm currently building a rig that will employ precisely this type of concept with a water control valve on the dephleg. I'm happy to hear your experiment was successful, that gives me the courage to simply complete my build without second guessing.
I've been running glass stills for over 20 years now and have no shame in saying so.

Equipment type: All glass equipment, highly modular borosilicate lab glass. Volumes and configurations vary including a copper packed passive reflux apparatus and a modular glass thumper set up.

my pet is a CCSC copper flute, I feed it corn and it pisses likker like a pony....
