ZBob on the road

Postby Zymurgy Bob » Thu May 09, 2013 4:18 pm

My bad that I didn't post this earlier, but I'm out of town on a 6-week book tour, so I won't be posting or reading very much.

So far I've stopped at Mainbrew in Hillsboro OR to talk over the proposed Living Social series of single hobby distilling classes I'm doing in the Portland area, and I've done a book signing at Home Fermenter Center in Eugene, where the street guy asked Jim the owner if we were putting on Alcoholics Anonymous meeting in the parking lot. I had an incredibly fun day in Redding at Jay and Victor's NorCal Brewing solutions. I had a super lunch and long discussion afterwards about flavoring and enzyme chemistry with Matt (delta-h) in Sacramento.

Right now I'm sitting in a friend's house atop Echo Summit, high above South Lake Tahoe, getting ready for signings this weekend at Sierra Moonshine in Grass Valley CA, and an encore signing at Just Brew It in Carson City Nevada.

All of this and more is in my blog:

Actually, ZZ, I'll be passing through Alameda county on the 13th or 14th on my way to the Winemaker Magazine conference in Monterey. Are you looking to meet up?

That would be cool, but not sure I'd be there then. Though you might be visiting the lhbs where I used to do a lot of shopping.

If you'd give me a name and a town, I might be able to work it in. I use a Garmin, so it's pretty easy to find places.

Sugar,

The farthest East we're going is Albuquerque, for a book signing at Victor's Grape Arbor. We did a signing there last year, and Michelle was just so nice to deal with that we had to do an encore.

Yup, Sugar, didn't ya know Texans are Easterners? :D

Thank ye kindly, Punkin. It's almost embarrassing, because I'm still starting at square one with the lecture, but people are very kind and receptive. I guess when it gets complicated I'll just refer them to Artisan Distillers. Actually, I already do.

How about the Seattle area, Bob? I have a friend there who I'm sure would be interested.

Mort,

I suspect that the Seattle area would be every bit as good for me as the greater Portland area seems to be, and would be a lot easier to drive to.

Right now, I know almost nothing about working with Living Social, and I don't know anyone in the Seattle area with facilities to hold such a class. Mainbrew in Hillsboro works with a gun shop with a very nice classroom in the same strip mall, so that part's already taken care of. Also, Mainbrew is doing all teh work with Living Social.

After I figure out what's happening and how to do it, I'd be very interested in doing a Seattle class.
