I don't have any experience with pellet cookers, but I've heard that they don't do a very good job of searing. Is this true?

At least with the one I own, if you turn it all the way up it sears nicely, the key is letting it get to temp. Wood fire obviously gets to a higher temp quicker but is less controllable.
